Rear Camera Setup
The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G has three back cameras. The main camera uses a 50MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture. It includes Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
OIS is rare in this price range. It reduces hand shake when taking photos and videos, resulting in sharper images in low light and steadier videos. The 50MP resolution captures detailed photos with digital zoom up to 10x.
The second camera is a 5MP ultrawide sensor with f/2.2 aperture. This lets you capture group photos, landscapes, and buildings where you need a wider view.
A 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture completes the setup. It takes close-up photos of small subjects like flowers or products. The 2MP resolution limits print size but works fine for social media.
Camera features include autofocus, LED flash, digital zoom, HDR, Night mode, Macro mode, Panorama, Pro mode, Slow Motion, Time Lapse, and Hyperlapse. Night mode uses multiple frames to improve low-light photos.
Front Camera
The front camera has a 13MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture in the waterdrop notch. It uses fixed focus, which keeps most selfies sharp. Features include Screen Flash, HDR, Night mode, Portrait mode, Beauty mode, AR Stickers, and Filters.
Photography & Videography
Low-light performance benefits from the 50MP sensor and OIS. Larger pixels combined with stabilization allow longer exposure without blur. Night mode uses multi-frame processing for better dynamic range after dark.
Digital zoom works up to 10x. There’s no optical zoom lens, so the phone crops from the 50MP sensor. Image quality drops after 5x zoom as digital processing becomes visible.
Important: Video recording maxes out at 1080p at 30fps for both rear and front cameras. The device does not support 4K video recording. The rear camera includes Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) during video, working with OIS for smoother footage.
Video codecs include H.264 and HEVC (H.265). HEVC creates smaller files while maintaining quality. Slow Motion, Time Lapse, and Hyperlapse modes provide creative recording options.
Portrait mode uses the 50MP main camera with software depth mapping. Face Detection and HDR work during portrait photography for balanced exposures.
